Funeral Service

The funeral ceremony is an important part of a service. It is where the body of the deceased is received by loved ones and is prepared for burial. Traditionally, the funeral service is conducted in a church or in a synagogue. Today, many families choose to conduct a funeral service at their own home, where the family meets before the services begin. There are several choices when it comes to conducting a funeral service. Most people opt to do it at a synagogue, but that choice is dependent on the religion of the deceased and any applicable laws. Some families decide to hold the service at a community center or even at the home of a friend or loved one. No matter where the service is held, the officiant must be someone who is known to all of those involved. The officiant is usually a minister, pastor, or funeral director.
